Stadsarchief Amsterdam

Which collections do we make available through WieWasWie?

You can find most genealogical indexes of the data made available by the Amsterdam City Archives via WieWasWie, such as the population registers, baptismal, marriage and burial records and the notarial archives.

Archive accessibility

The Amsterdam City Archives is the historical documentation center of Amsterdam with 50 kilometers of physical archive, 140 terabytes of digital archive, a historical-topographical collection with millions of maps, drawings, prints, a library and extensive sound, film and photo archives. The oldest piece is the toll privilege of Count Floris V of Holland from 1275.

To view original documents in the Study Room, you must make an online reservation in advance. Send an email to: [email protected]. Indicate on which day you want to come and which part of the day (morning 10 am - 1 pm, afternoon 1:30 pm - 5 pm). Preferably reserve the inventory numbers you wish to consult on the same day as you reserve a place in the reading room. More information on our site: www.amsterdam.nl/stadsarchief
